TRIP OVERVIEW

Island Peak climbing easily fulfills the dream of both the amateur and serious climbers as it offers climbers an adventurous and thrilling climbing experience in an ascent mostly non-technical with some basic snow climbing skills. Island Peak is also known as Imja Tse which is considered as a spectacular peak amid the giants of the Himalaya and is the most famous climbing peak in Everest region. Here on this trek to Island Peak you shall experience the Everest trail and its fabulous culture, history and scenery, and with the altitude comes many challenges.

Being located on top off Chukung glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse peaks, Island peak has become the most sought after trekking and climbing destination because of its challenging geographical conditions. We shall recommend this climb to those who are seeking the thrill of adventure and wish to take adventure climbing trips beyond simply trekking in Everest. Island Peak is an excellent opportunity to achieve an over 6000 meter Himalayan summit together with an exhilarating trek to the Everest Base Camp and Kalapattar. What makes it hard going is the altitude, which may affect your performance, though rest days are built into the trek to help you acclimatize. After one and a half week of trekking you will be physically fit and well acclimatized to try to reach the summit of Island Peak at 6173 m. The climb to Island Peak starts from the base camp, followed by the high camp and then the summit. From the summit of Island Peak there are stunning views of Lhotse and Makalu, the 4th and 5th highest mountains in the world, respectively. The cultural aspects of the area rest on its intimate connection with Tibetan Buddhism. Accommodations are available in comfortable teahouses run by Sherpa family’s en-route. The biodiversity of the region is now protected by Sagarmatha National Park. Following the trail along the glacial milky river, we trek through smaller settlements, lush and dense forest, terraced farmlands, several suspension flags festooned with prayer flags, waterfalls. Along the way, we visit Buddhist monasteries and begin to appreciate the unique mountain culture found in the Himalayan foothills.

This trek offers you the opportunity to fulfill a dream, while taking in some of the most incredible scenery in the Himalayas. Good health and a basic good physical condition together with careful pacing and plenty of time to acclimatize is the key to a successful trip. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the preferred seasons for this trip. Join Funny Nepal Treks  climbing team to experience this adventurous climb to the Island Peak in Everest region.
